ON 50th LAP THE CAR WAS BADLY CRASHED IN HEAVY RAIN. SENT BACK TO PORSCHE AG. REBUILT CONSISTED OF REPLACING BODY AND CHASSIS WITH #031, WHICH WAS THEN RENUMBERED #026. ORIGINAL #026 WAS THEN REBUILT AND RENUMBERED #031.

NOTE. THE CAR WAS BADLY DAMAGED. REPORTS SAID FOR THE NORISRING RACE ERNST KRAUS MADE AN ARRANGMENT WITH AAW TEAM TO HIRE THE OLD KINNUNEN 917 WINNER OF 1971 INTERSERIE CUP (CHASSIS #01-021). THE CHASSIS WAS REMOVED FROM THE PORSCHE MUSEUM AND THE 5400 KRAUS ENGINE AND BOX WERE FITTED. KRAUS ALSO RACED KEIMOLA AND HOCKENHEIM INTERSERIE LATER IN 1972. REPORTS DO NOT SAY IF THE RACED CAR WAS #01-021 OR #026
