IN 1997, RESTORER KEVIN JEANNETTE (OF GUNNAR RACING) IDENTIFIED FITTINGS ON CHASSIS 917-01-021 THAT WERE UNIQUE TO THE CARS CAMPAIGNED BY JOHN WYER RACING. JEANNETTE FURTHER DEDUCED (PRIMARILY THROUGH PROCESS OF ELIMINATION) THAT THE CHASSIS MUST HAVE ORIGINALLY BEEN THE CHASSIS 015 THAT WAS REPLACED BY FRESH CHASSIS 034.

THE CHASSIS FROM 917-01-021 WAS THEN CONVERTED BACK INTO COUPE CONFIGURATION AND GIVEN NEW BODYWORK AS IT RACED WHEN IT WON DAYTONA IN 1970 (INCLUDING AN ORIGINAL DAYTONA-SPEC WINDSHIELD). JEANNETTE INSTALLED A NEW DRIVETRAIN AND USED MOST OF THE 021 SUSPENSION AND BRAKE COMPONENTRY TO COMPLETE THE TRANSFORMATION.
